The photography culture in Zambia is at its peak now and that comes with more local photographers getting the recognition and exposure they deserve.

Four (4) Years ago we started our photography feature and in 2018 we featured New State Art and in 2019 we featured Adrian Brice Creates. We’re happy to keep driving the conversation. So starting this year we will be bringing you ‘an always refreshed’ yearly list of photographers to follow.

For the past few years, we have seen how photographers play a major role especially when it comes to content creation, campaign collaborations and keeping a beautiful and neat social media feed.

Brands and companies are finally making those calls to collaborate with photographers on special campaigns and events, while on the other side we see this popular trend of celebrities having their own photographers and traveling everywhere with them.

This year alone Challah Tukuta was appointed as a presidential photographer at Statehouse and Hans Kawanda was featured in Nkwazi Magazine. In 2019 BT AFRICA secured a Launch gig. They shot and covered the whole Orca Deco Launch on the Copperbelt at Mukuba Mall – Kitwe.

Fortress Media has become an house hold name they have worked with various clients and shot different kinds of campaigns, Their Portfolio dubbed (Fortress Experience) from 2014 to present stretches across Barclays-Absa, Atlasmara, Save the Children, Zed Girl, MTN, Proflight, Inter-continental Hotel and Resorts, FNB, CEC, Zambia Bureau of Standards, UNICEF, Zambia Ministry of Health, Zambia Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pizza Hut Zambia just to mention a few.

Kreative Kingdom who is known for creative dark visuals has shot at culture events, bringing his tasteful style of shooting to various music-themed events.

Those are just a few mentions that show how the photography industry has expanded to become versatile and fruitful.

But other than that, it all comes down to being unique and defining your style of shooting for masses to appreciate you and sign you that big cheque.

We have put together a list of Zambian photographers who are noteworthy when it comes to creativity, style of shooting, and storytelling. Also, making an impact in the entertainment, lifestyle, fashion and art scene.

*We don’t want anyone to consume this list as a competition, but rather a massive shout out to photographers who are doing outstanding work. We keep the list fresh and make sure we introduce you to new names.
